Paul Simon's fourth solo studio album, recorded in 1975, produced four U.S. Top 40 hits including the title track which hit #40, "50 Ways To Leave Your Lover" which hits #1, "Gone At Last" (#23), and "My Little Town" (#9). The album won two Grammy Awards in 1976 for Album of the Year and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.
"My Little Town" reunited Simon with former musical partner Art Garfunkel for the first time since 1970.
The title track has since been recorded by the likes of Rosemary Clooney, Ray Charles, Karen Carpenter, and Willie Nelson.
"...this album demonstrated that Simon could sing his own songs and be successful without Garfunkel...The title tune hit many boomers hard: "after all these years? We're too young for 'all these years'" but we weren't. By 1975 many had reached or were approaching thirty. It was sobering...The album's darker tone and songs like 'Fifty Ways to Leave Your Lover' and 'Gone At Last' made it one of Simon's best and one that stands the test of time in every way." - Michael Fremer, analogplanet, Music 9/11, Sound 9/11
