The original A Love Supreme is a studio album recorded by John Coltrane's quartet in December 1964. It is generally considered to be among Coltrane's greatest works. The album was a groundbreaking suite that served as high-water mark of the prolific tenor saxophonist's career.

Contemporary saxophonist Branford Marsalis paid homage to this album in 2004, by recording it live at the Bimhuis Jazz Club in Amsterdam recorded on march 30, 2003. Marsalis and his band learned the piece intimately and created their own very enjoyable approach to it.
